The Story: Our philosophy
on wedding photography is simple: Tell the story. So many photographers out
there just shoot the standard family pictures, dances, etc....we try to go that
extra mile and tell the complete story of the day...the romance, the beauty, and
the joy of it all. Here is a quick example:
At a wedding we shot last year in Hawaii Kai, the bride was getting married at
the very same house that her grandmother was married in, and subsequently lived
in for many years. Grandmother had passed on a couple of years earlier, but the
spirit of the day was definitely suggesting that grandma was there with her
granddaughter - the bride.
While we were doing the getting ready pictures in the spare bedroom of the
house, the bride mentioned to me that the entire house had be re-done since
grandma died, and the only thing that remained was a simple chest of drawers in
that bedroom. I could see that it meant a lot to her.
As soon as the bride left the room, I took a few shots of the chest of drawers,
staged her shoes, purse, and veil on it, set the light, and took some more. She
never even knew it.
When the album was designed, we put one of those pictures on the cover, and when
she saw it, she cried with joy.
THAT IS WHAT WE DO.
Album Preparation: If your wedding is on Saturday, we will have your
proofs loaded up on the web as early as Monday. We want you to see them while
you are still on your honeymoon. We want you to email it to all your friends
and family. We want everyone to see the gorgeous creation that we made by
photographing your wedding celebration while it is still fresh in your mind.
Then all you need to do is select the images for your album, and our album
designer will make a custom design for you based on those choices. Amber,
our album designer, is the best in the business, and we are proud to have her.
Equipment: Your wedding day is probably one of the most important days of
your lives, and it is important that every precaution be taken to capture those
special moments. One precaution is equipment. Even if you don't hire us as your
photographer, make sure your photographer has top notch equipment.

Do we have other cameras and lenses? Yes...but these are the main components we
use.
What does all that mean? In a nutshell, as far as professional digital
cameras go, this is Nikon's top of the line stuff. The D2X (12.4 megapixels) is
an amazing camera, and for the $5000.00 price tag (we noticed that it just came
down to $4699.00) for JUST THE BODY, it had better be. The D200, although
different than the D2X, is an incredibly versatile camera that produces amazing
images in the 10 megapixel range. We generally keep the 17-55 lens mounted to
the D2X, and the 70-200 lens mounted to the D200...that way we can capture
images up close and personal, as well as distance shots without having to change
lenses.
Make sure to hire a professional with professional equipment, not a student who
got a point and shoot camera in his Christmas stocking last year, or an
officiant or cake decorator who says they will shoot your wedding photos - that
is a recipe for disaster! |
